About
Meet The Maker ~ Laura Bemister
A Story of Origin, Intention, and Creation

I was raised in a community of 250 people on a hobby farm — no pavement, no stoplights, just open sky, trees, and time. Nature was my constant companion, and creativity was how I connected to it.
I began designing when I was seven or eight, cutting, pinning, imagining. There’s a story my mother loves to tell — I was five when she asked me what I thought of her new dress. I said, “I like the colour, but I don’t like the style.” I only vaguely remember it, but in hindsight, it says everything.

That grassroots beginning shaped how I move through the world — and how I create. I was raised to value slowness, substance, and self-expression. That’s why I’ve never wanted Muse to follow trends or chase mass production.
From day one, my collection has been designed and made locally here in Vancouver. It’s the only way I know how to work — close to the fabric, close to the people, and close to the intention behind every piece.

Each garment is made to order, crafted with care, and grounded in the belief that what we wear should feel good on the skin and good in the soul. I choose sustainable bamboo fabric because it's breathable, elegant, and kind — to your body and to the planet.
The designs are classic, wearable, and flattering, made to travel, to layer, and to last.
This isn’t fast fashion. It’s thoughtful fashion — rooted in experience, shaped by nature, and always, always made with love.
